DINING SKILLS FOR CHILDREN
A confidence building program promoting table manners with ease. Help your child be confident in any dining situation. This class provides hours of Professional, Fun and Interactive Etiquette and Dining Instruction. Dining topics include Proper Place Setting, Dining Do’s and Don’ts, How to Eat Various Foods, Handling Silverware and Napkins, Proper Table Behavior, American and Continental Styles of Eating and much, much more. Participants receive an age appropriate illustrated workbook and enjoy a beautifully prepared Four Course Dinner Tutorial at the Award Winning Octagon Restaurant, Marriott Mystic Hotel and Spa. Proper Dress Required.

Enjoy a captivating morning and afternoon in this fun-filled highly interactive program that will show each participant how to put his/her best foot forward in just about any kind of social situation you can imagine. It’s a real confidence builder planned just in time to even impress the relatives at a holiday get together. Participants will learn Introduction Basics, Courtesies that Count, Telephone Etiquette, The ABC’s of Table Manners, Understanding a Table Setting, Styles of Eating and much more. The Class is followed by a four course luncheon Tutorial with Dining Instruction. All Participants receive an Illustrated Workbook to keep as a lifetime reference guide. The cost includes 5 h ours of Professional and Fun Etiquette and Dining Instruction to equip your child with skills to use for a lifetime, a Four Course Formal Lunch, workbook Materials and Completion Certificate. Because so few families have the time to sit down at meals together, teens do not have the chance to learn and practice important dining skills that they will need for their adult and professional careers. This program will teach the teenager how to conduct themselves whether at an informal meal or a formal event. Topics include Host/Hostess Duties, Dining Savoir-Faire, Silverware Savvy, Navigating a Place Setting, Dining Do’s and Don’ts, Posture at the Table, Tipping and much, much more. Participants will enjoy class time and a four course luncheon tutorial. All Participants receive an Illustrated Workbook. Proper Dress Required. No Jeans and No sneakers.

The City of Groton Parks and Recreation Department is offering MANNERS MATTER, an etiquette program geared especially for children ages 8 -11 years old. This program is designed to help kids boost their self-confidence and improve their relationships at home and school. This course is the perfect preparation for that College Interview, Scholarship or First Job. Opportunities abound for individuals who demonstrate highly effective communication and social skills, it is important for people to distinguish themselves from the rest of the pack.
Geared toward creating poise and building self-esteem in young men and women, this hands on interactive, fun-filled program focuses upon the importance of social and communication skills in the development of leadership. The first part of this class covers the social skills of proper greetings and introductions, presenting oneself with confidence, interviewing techniques, follow-up and the promptness of a thank you note. Class participants will also learn to dine with confidence. An informative dining tutorial will help young people learn everything they need to know about dining but didn’t know how to ask. Topics include understanding Table Settings, How to Handle Silverware, Styles of Eating, Dining Skills and much, much more. Learn the etiquette of dining out over a delicious four course meal at the award winning Octagon Restaurant. Students receive a custom illustrated workbook covering the day’s lessons to consult whenever needed.
