childrens teen pre-teen programs

Children in today's world grow up more quickly than ever. They frequently reach adulthood without many of the skills that will allow them to succeed personally and professionally. Young people need to learn about manners and social etiquette, which, in turn, will help foster positive self-esteem, confidence and leadership qualities. Every program participant is given a workbook to take home to reinforce the lessons learned, as well as Certificates of Achievement.

Modern Manners for Children

Modern Manners for Children is a three-part program designed to teach important aspects of etiquette to children ages 4 to 7. The children will be engaged in fun, age-appropriate activities that help them learn and apply etiquette in their day-to-day lives. Among other learning tools, we use Catherine the Mannerly Cat™, a puppet, to entertain the children while teaching key concepts. The program is comprised of:

The ABC's of Meeting, Greeting and Saying Goodbye
Little Things We Say and Do
1,2,3 Let's Eat

This program encourages family involvement through take-home handouts that reinforce the lessons learned in class.

As children grow through adolescence into their teenage years, they are faced with increasing demands and confusing expectations. There is little guidance as to how to behave in the adult world. Through interactive programs and role-playing, students from ages 8 to 17 will learn key life skills and build their self-confidence while focusing on topics including:

Social and Communication skills
Self-esteem
Handshaking
Introductions
Self-respect and respect for others
Conversation and Listening skills
Telephone etiquette
Proper etiquette in public places

Just like adults, young people want to feel comfortable and self-assured in social situations. Yet they find that, seemingly any way they turn, there are social situations in which they are unsure how to behave. Dining situations, in particular, present challenges.

Mills Etiquette Services has created a fun, highly interactive program that teaches everything that young people need to know about dining but did not even know to ask. An illustrated workbook and role-playing demonstrate the right way to dine.   Programs are available with and without dining tutorials.

Topics include:

Expectations of host and guest
The ABC's of table manners
Handling napkins
Handling silverware
The etiquette of dining out
Difficult-to-eat foods
Do's and don'ts of dining
Thank you notes

Making appropriate and effective introductions
Using body language to your advantage
